Folio 127. Letter from Jas [James] Hammond to Stanier Porten, dated at Dover, [concerning suspected intelligence sent to France during the invasion threat]. William Tankard, supervisor of the riding officers in Dartford [Kent] should be contacted to search for small parcels found in 'machines in their way down to Dover'. These people should also be searched: Charles Marré [Mariee]; boatmen John Edgerly, Robert Clement, and Eliazer Nowle; Hart Wilde, and Deborah Jones. Also mentions: 'Despatch' packet boat, Captain Thomas Basket; and Mr [William] Eldridge.
