Folios 82-83. A 'Public Instrument of Protest' concerning the Danish merchantman 'Prince Charles', John [Johan] Ahrens commander, of Hesse Cassel, Altona, detained off Falmouth [Cornwall] during a journey from Hamburg, by the British schooner 'Coureur' [?'Courier] Lieutenant Christopher Major commander. She was taken to Plymouth [Devon], where Admiral Lord Shieldham released her. Protest signed by: Ahrens; Hans Baltazer Tietjens, mate; Car Stenhawer, boatswain; and Johan Nicholaas Rissler, carpenter; as well as the translator, Francis Kroger, victualler; and Joseph Hoskin, notary public of the court of chancery, dwelling in Plymouth, Devon. Also mentions: the ship's owner Henry Deltz; George Winne, Danish vice consul; and Thomas Squire.
