Description

Captured ship: Mary of Larwick [Larvik] (master Peter Lorentsen) [second capture].

History: a Danish Norwegian merchant ship (20 lasts) bound from Le Havre to Copenhagen, laden with wine, tapestries, gladd, vinegar, molasses, angeletts, apples, pears and scissors ''for the King of Denmark's brother'; taken during March 1692 by the privateer Seaventure (Edward Slater commanding), and brought into Rye.

  • [CP 1-CP 3]: interrogatories, two examinations, commission;
  • [CP 4]: claim to the ship and cargo on behalf of Ulrich Friedrich Guldenlöwe;
  • [CP 5]: list of the ship's papers retained
  • [CP 6]: docket for the ship's papers;

Ship’s Papers numbered SP 9, 28, 34, 36, 42, 43, 45-46, 48-49, 55, 58-59, 60, customs papers, receipts, bills of lading.

[Decision: ship and cargo restored, 5 April 1692; appealed].
