Description

Captured ship: Mary of Cork (master William Griffith).

History: an Irish (Williamite) merchant ship (20 tons, 4 passengers) bound from Cork to Ostend, laden with hides and butter; seized in port at Penzance during August 1689.

Court Papers numbered CP 1-CP 8:

  • [CP 1]: one attestation or examination;
  • [CP 2]: claim to the ship and cargo on behalf of merchants in Cork;
  • [CP 3-CP 4]: allegation, interrogatories;
  • [CP 5-CP 6]: interrogatories, two examinations;
  • [CP 7-CP 8]: abstracts and translations of 3 ship's papers [these papers were restored], docket.

[Decision: ship and cargo restored 23 August 1689].
