Description

Captured ship: Mary of Elsinore [Helsingør] (master Laurents Albertsen).

History: a Danish merchant ship (70 lasts) bound from Nantes to Copenhagen, laden with wine and fruit; taken on 18/28 April 1692 in the English Channel by the privateer Elizabeth and Catherine (William Young commanding), and brought into Dover.

Court Papers numbered CP 1-CP 6:

  • [CP 1]: four examinations;
  • [CP 2-CP 4]: two allegations, claim to the ship and cargo on behalf of merchants in Copenhagen;
  • [CP 5-CP 6]: commission of appraisement, inventory.

[Decision: ship and cargo condemned, 16 June 1692].
