Description

Captured ship: Marquise de Querlorec of Brest (commander De Genne).

History: a French privateer (40 tons, 6 guns, 33 men) bound from Brest on a cruise; taken on 20/30 August 1697 by HMS Swan (Thomas Kenney commanding), and brought into Tenby, Wales.

Documents:-

Court Papers numbered CP 1-CP 3:

  • [CP 1-CP 2]: two examinations;
  • [CP 3]: docket for the ship's papers.

Ship's papers, numbered SP 1-SP 6, a paper in Catalan issued by a 'consul of the French nation', ship's pass, customs papers, letter of marque, muster rolls.

[Decision: ship condemned, 3 September 1697].
