Description

Captured ship: St Marina of Amsterdam (master Herman Muller).

History: a Dutch merchant ship bound from Hamburg to Bilbao, laden with cases of bottles, beer, horse beans, looking glasses, chairs, a great cupboard, tobacco stalks, tobacco pipes, latten plates, refining earthen pots used by silversmiths etc; taken off Ameland during April 1694 by HMS Garland (Thomas Robinson commanding), and brought into Chatham.

Court Papers numbered CP 1-CP 7:

  • [CP 1]: four examinations;
  • [CP 2]: claim to the ship and cargo on behalf of merchants in Hamburg and Bilbao;
  • [CP 3-CP 6]: attestations sent in from Hamburg and Amsterdam, with translations;
  • [CP 7]: docket.

[Decision: ship and cargo restored, 10 May 1694].
