Description

Captured ship: St Mary Louise of Dunkirk (commander Cornelius Kerckoven).

History: a French privateer (20 tons, 4 guns, 25 men) bound from Dunkirk on a cruise; taken on 5/15 March 1696/7 by HMS Solebay (Henry Wild commanding), and brought into Harwich.

Court Papers numbered CP 1-CP 2:

  • [CP 1]: one examination;
  • [CP 2]: docket for the ship's papers.

Ship's Papers numbered SP 1-SP 2, letter of marque, muster roll.

[Decision: ship and cargo condemned, 18 March 1697].
