Captured ship: Marie Joseph of Isle Dieu [Île d'Yeu] (master Peter or Pierre David).
History: a French merchant ship (20 tons) bound from Lannion to La Rochelle, laden with hemp; taken on 21/31 December 1696 off Ushant by HMS Burlington (William Carr commanding), and brought into Torbay.
