Description

Captured ship: Maria of Stockholm (master Hinrich Rohse).

History: a Swedish merchant ship (100 tons) bound from Gothenburg to Bordeaux or Le Havre, laden with tar, deals, copper wire, skins, copperas, staves abd beef; taken on 21 April / 1 May 1694 off the coast of Normandy by the Dutch warship Breda (Jan Jansen commanding), and brought into Portsmouth.

  • [CP 1]: one examination;
  • [CP 2]: claim to the ship and cargo on behalf of merchants in Stockholm;
  • [CP 3-CP 4]: inventory, commission of appraisement.
