Description

Captured ship: Maria of Konigsberg (master Olaus Nielson Knab) [second capture].

History: a Swedish merchant ship (120 tons) bound from Stockholm to London, laden with deals, iron, pitch and tar; taken on 18/28 September 1692 off the South Foreland by the privateers Edward (Benjamin Stent commanding) and Greyhound (George Wells commanding), and brought into the Downs.

Court Papers numbered CP 1-CP 4:

  • [CP 1-CP 3]: two sets of interrogatories, four examinations;
  • [CP 4]: claim to the ship and cargo on behalf of merchants in Stockholm and Konigsberg.

[Decision: ship and cargo restored, 27 September 1692].
