Description

Captured ship: Santa Maria of Copenhagen (master Cordt Jastram).

History: a Danish merchant ship (100 lasts) bound from Bordeaux to Lisbon, laden with hemp and staves; taken on 5/15 December 1696 off Cap de la Hague by the privateer Three Eagles (North le Cras commanding), and brought into Jersey.

Court Papers numbered CP 1-CP :

  • [CP 1-CP 3]: five examinations;
  • [CP 4-CP 5]: two claims to the ship and cargo on behalf of merchants in Riga and Copenhagen;
  • [CP 6]: docket for the ship's papers.

Ship’s Papers numbered SP 1-SP 10, lightouse dues, ship's pass, receipts and/or invoices, bill of lading.

[Decision: ship and cargo condemned, 15 February 1697].
