Description

Captured ship: Margaret of Calais (master Jean Baptiste Tesson).

History: a French merchant ship (20 tons) bound from Bordeaux to Calais, laden with wine and turpentine; taken on 25 January / 4 February 1692/3 off Guernsey by the privateer Mary Sloop (John Tupper commanding), and brought into Guernsey.

Court Papers numbered CP 1-CP 3:

  • [CP 1]: four examinations;
  • [CP 2-CP 3]: inventory, commission of appraisement.

Ship’s Papers numbered SP 1-SP 4, bills of lading, ship's pass.

[Decision: ship and cargo condemned, 16 February 1693].
