Captured ship: Madre de Deus or Matre de Deos St Degraile of Lisbon (master Agostinho Denespara).
History: a Portuguese merchant ship (100 tons) bound from Lisbon to Ostend, laden with salt, dyestuffs, wool, tobacco and crano (a Brazillian spice); taken on 19/29 July 1691 off Calais by HMS Bonaventure (John Hubbard commanding), and brought into the Downs.
