Captured ship: Magdalen or Michell of London (master John Madder).
History: an English merchant ship (200 tons) bound from the Kola Peninsula in Lapland to London, laden with stockfish; taken on 4/14 September 1694 off Great Yarmouth by a French privateer, retaken on 13/23 September 1694 off the Downs by Cloudesley Shovell's squadron, after the prize crew abandoned the ship on sight of the fleet.
