Administrative / biographical background

The Queen Elizabeth II Conference Centre was opened in 1986 and until July 1989 was part of the Department of the Environment. In July 1989 the Conference Centre was established as an Executive Agency. The Centre provides and manages fully secure conference facilities for national and international government meetings up to the highest level, and it is also marketed commercially as a facility for both government and commercial use.
