Captured ship: Desire of Poole (master John Edmunds).
History: an English or French merchant ship (14 tons); taken on 30 March / 9 April 1695 off the coast of Sussex by an unnamed French privateer of Calais and carried to Dieppe; in 1696 it was captured by HMS Nonsuch (Samuel Vincent commanding) while perhaps sailing with French colours and brought into Portsmouth.
