Description

Captured ship: Dauphin of Le Havre (commander François Gerard de Casteras).

History: a French privateer (40 tons, 6 guns, 43 men), bound from Le Havre on a cruise; taken on 12/22 September 1694 off the Isle of Wight by HMS Maidstone (John Tookey commanding), and brought into Weymouth.

  • [CP 3]: allegation;
  • [CP 4]: docket, still attached to the ship's papers.

Ship's papers, numbered SP 1-SP 5, including passes, a muster roll, letter of marque.
