Description

Captured ship: St Julien of Granville (master Jean Le Noble).

History: a French merchant ship (5 tons, 3 men) bound from Avranches to Granville, laden with slates, empty casks; taken on 22 August 1691 off Cape Fréhel by the privateer Hare (John Stephens commanding), and brought into Guernsey.

Documents:-

Court Papers numbered CP 1-CP 5:

  • [CP 1]: four examinations;
  • [CP 2-CP 4]: affidavit, inventory, commission of appraisement;
  • [CP 5]: docket for the ship's papers.

Ship’s Papers numbered SP 1-SP 7, contract, ship's pass, muster roll, bill of lading, personal letters sent to Guernsey and London, customs paper.

[Decision: ship and cargo condemned, 12 February 1692].
