Description

Captured ship: Juffrouw Maria or John and Mary of Dronten (master Jan Spanjaert or John Spaniard).

History: a Danish (Norwegian) merchant ship (100 tons) bound from Nantes to Dronten in Norway [Trondheim], laden with salt; taken on 27 June / 7 July 1689 off Torbay by the Dutch warship Vrede (Peter van Laren commanding) [given as Freedom, Peter Van Laar], and brought into Plymouth.

  • [CP 1-CP 2]: interrogatories, two examinations;
  • [CP 3]: claim to the ship and cargo on behalf of merchants in Dronten;
  • [CP 4]: interrogatories;
  • [CP 5]: translation of an attestation sent from Dronten.

[Decision: discontinued 30 May 1690].
