Description

Captured ship: St John of Stockholm (master Kempe Lubberts).

History: a Swedish merchant ship (100 tons) bound from Stockholm to Bristol, laden with iron, tin, hemp and deal boards; taken on 11/21 October 1692 off Dover by the privateer Rook Frigott (Edward Cheater commanding), and brought into Dover.

Court Papers numbered CP 1-CP 4/4:

  • [CP 1-CP 2]: interrogatories, three examinations;
  • [CP 3]: claim to the ship and cargo on behalf of merchants in Stockholm and Bristol;
  • [CP 4/1-CP 4/4]: exhibits sent into court, bill of lading, invoice, letter, insurance policy.

[Decision: ship and cargo restored, 11 November 1692].
