Captured ship: St John or St Jean of Planquait (master Pierre Lougart).
History: a French merchant ship (gabarre, 15 tons, abandoned by her crew) bound from St Malo, laden with prunes, raisins, figs; taken on 8/18 April 1697 off Cap Fréhel by the privateer Defiance (John Gruchy commanding), and brought into Guernsey.
