Description

Captured ship: St Jacob of Stade (master Paul Claesen).

History: a Swedish merchant ship (140 tons) bound from St Martin de Re to Stockholm, laden with salt; taken on 17/27 April 1693 off Île de Batz by the privateer Rook Frigott (John Mitchell commanding), and brought into Plymouth.

Court Papers numbered CP 1-CP 3:

  • [CP 1]: interrogatories, four examinations;
  • [CP 2]: claim to the ship and cargo on behalf of merchants in Stade;
  • [CP 3]: docket for the ship's papers.

Ship's Papers numbered SP 1-SP 14, ship's passes, receipts, accounts, bill of lading, customs paper.

[Decision: ship and cargo condemned, 18 May 1693].
