Description

Captured ship: Gyldenløve or Guldenleund or Gulden Lewe (master Olaus Gerfoe).

History: a Danish (Norwegian) merchant ship (131 lasts) bound from Norway to St Martin, laden with deals, hand spikes and firewood; taken on 1/11 February 1691/2 at by the privateer Cloudesley Galley (Charles Stocker commanding), and brought into Dartmouth.

Court Papers numbered CP 1-CP 6:

  • [CP 1-CP 4]: interrogatories, three examinations, commission, commissioners' affidavit;
  • [CP 5]: claim to the ship and cargo on behalf of Gyldenløve, Viceroy of Norway, resident in Copenhagen;
  • [CP 6]: abstracts and translations of 7 ship's papers [these papers were restored, or moved on to the appeal].

[Decision: restored 5 April 1692; appealed].
