Description

Captured ship: Green Linden Tree or Groen Linde of Stockholm (master Lijeve Heeres).

History: a Swedish merchant ship (250 tons) bound from Bordeaux to Stockholm, laden with wine, prunes, honey, cocoa; taken on 4/14 July 1697 off Plymouth by HMS Content (Havenden Walker commanding), and brought into Plymouth.

Court Papers numbered CP 1-CP 6:

  • [CP 1]: three examinations;
  • [CP 2-CP 5]: two attestations sent in from Stockholm, with translations;
  • [CP 6]: docket for the ship's papers.

Ship’s Papers numbered SP 1, 6a, 6b, 9, 12, bill of lading, letter, accounts, customs paper, cargo list.

[Decision: ship restored, cargo part condemned, 16 September 1697; appealed].
