Description

Captured ship: Golondrena or Swallow of London (master John de Swaso).

History: an English merchant ship (35 tons, 5 men and a boy) bound from San Sebastian to Cork, Ireland, laden with brandy; taken on 30 August / 9 September 1691 off the Scilly Isles by HMS Deptford (William Carr commanding), and brought into Falmouth.

Court Papers numbered CP 1-CP 5:

  • [CP 1]: two examinations;
  • [CP 2-CP 4]: claim to the ship and cargo on behalf of merchants in London, two attestations as to payment for the cargo;
  • [CP 5]: abstracts and translations of the 12 ship's papers [all these papers were restored].

Ship’s Papers numbered SP A-SP B, lists of charges incurred at San Sebastian.

[Decision: restored 25 September 1691].
