Description

Captured ship: Golden Star of Danzig (master Nicholas Lissaw otherwise Claus Leisau).

History: a Polish merchant ship (flyboat, 180 tons) bound from Bourgneuf to Danzig, laden with salt; taken on 27 June / 7 July 1689 off Portland by the privateer Stadt Harlem (Francis Maynard commanding), and brought into Plymouth.

Court Papers numbered CP 1-CP 8:

  • [CP 1]: interrogatories;
  • [CP 2]: claim to the ship and cargo on behalf of merchants in Danzig;
  • [CP 3-CP 4]: interrogatories, two examinations;
  • [CP 5]: attestation sent in from Danzig;
  • [CP 6-CP 7]: inventory, commission of appraisement;
  • [CP 8]: abstract and translation of 6 ships papers [all these papers were restored].

[Decision: ship and cargo restored, 2 August 1689].
