Description

Captured ship: Golden Pike of Copenhagen (master Cleophas Keel) [second capture].

History: a Danish merchant ship (55 tons) bound from Cherrant [Charente, France] to Copenhagen, laden with wine; taken on 13/23 July 1691 off Dartmouth by HMS Eaglet Ketch (William Martin commanding), and brought into Plymouth.

Court Papers numbered CP 1-CP 4:

  • [CP 1]: three examinations;
  • [CP 2]: claim to the ship and cargo on behalf of merchants in Copenhagen, docket;
  • [CP 3-CP 4]: abstracts and translations of the 2 ship's papers [these papers were restored].

[Decision: ship restored, cargo condemned 20 August 1691].
