Description

Captured ship: Golden Pike of Copenhagen (master Cleophas Keel) [first capture].

History: a Danish merchant ship bound from Cork to Hamburg, laden with butter, hides and piece goods; taken on 19/29 November 1689 off the coast of Munster, Ireland by HMS Centurion (Basil Beaumont commanding), and brought into Falmouth.

Court Papers numbered CP 1-CP 5:

  • [CP 1-CP 2]: interrogatories, two examinations;
  • [CP 3]: claim to the ship and cargo on behalf of merchants in Copenhagen;
  • [CP 4]: affidavit as to the ownership of the cargo;
  • [CP 5]: interrogatories.

[Decision: ship and cargo restored, 12 November 1689].
