Description

Captured ship: Goudeberg or Golden Mountain of Flensburg (master Elias Bedard).

History: a Danish merchant ship (200 tons, 28 guns, 46 men, 19 of whom were Huguenots) bound from Hamburg to Cadiz, Alicante, Genoa and Livorno, laden with bale goods, lead, copper ore, tin, copper plates; taken during November 1692 by the privateers Resolution (Thomas Nicholas commanding) and Amity (Robert Cadman commanding), and brought into Rye.

  • [CP 1-CP 3]: interrogatories, three examinations, commission;
  • [CP 4]: claim to the ship and cargo on behalf of merchants in Flensburg;
  • [CP 5]: six examinations;
  • [CP 6/1a-CP 6/9b]: exhibits sent in from Hamburg, including attestations, a letter and an advertisment, with translations [CP 6/5 not here];
  • [CP 7/1a-CP 7/7]: further exhibits sent in from Hamburg, including attestations, cargo lists and letters, with translations.

[Decision: ship and cargo condemned, 16 February 1692/3].
