Captured ship: La Gentille (master Adrien Virnault).
History: a French ship (30 tons, abandoned by her crew), bound from Rouen to Isigny-sur-Mer, in ballast; taken on 7/17 August 1696 in Caen Harbour by the privateer Melcomb Sloop (Mansell commanding), and brought into Weymouth.

Ship’s Papers numbered SP 1-SP 41 some of which are not for La Gentille but for other French ships, including muster rolls, ship's passes, accounts, receipts, customs papers, letters, and bills of lading.
