Description

Captured ship: St Geneviève of Cherbourg (commander De la Londe Torepell).

History: a French privateer (20 tons, 2 guns, 26 men) bound from Cherbourg on a cruise; taken on 8/18 March 1691/2 off Guernsey by the privateer Guernsey Sloop (John Stephens commanding), and brought into Guernsey.

Documents:-

Court Papers numbered CP 1-CP 5:

  • [CP 1]: three examinations;
  • [CP 2-CP 4]: indenture, inventory, commission of appraisement;
  • [CP 5]: docket for the ship's papers.

Ship's Papers numbered SP 1-SP 2, receipt for a port payment, letter of marque.

[Decision: ship condemned 11 April 1692].
