Description

Captured ship: Frederick III of Altona (master Andreas Jansen).

History: a Danish merchant ship (200 tons) bound from Altona to Porto, laden with iron and deal boards; taken on 29 July / 8 August 1692 by the privateer Amity (Robert Cadman commanding) and brought into Rye.

Court Papers numbered CP 1-CP 5/12:

  • [CP 1-CP 3]: interrogatories, three examinations, commission;
  • [CP 4]: claim to the ship and cargo on behalf of merchants in Altona;
  • [CP 5/1-CP 5/12]: a set of exhibits, including attestations, letters and accounts, some with translations.

[Decision: ship and cargo restored 25 August 1692].
