Description

Captured ship: St François Xavier of Marseilles (master Antoine Teissere).

History: a French merchant ship (180 tons, 20 men) bound from Marseilles to Constantinople, laden with coffee, oil and cotton; taken during 1697 by HMS Dragon (Edward Rigby commanding).

Court Paper numbered CP 1:

  • [CP 1]: docket, still attached to the ship's papers.

Ship's Papers numbered SP 1-SP 14, bills of lading, ship's passes, customs papers, accounts, a printed official document representing the wounds of Christ.

[Decision: ship and cargo condemned, 19 April 1697].
