Description

Captured ship: St Francis or St Mary of Bideford (master Francis Gru).

History: an English merchant ship bound from a port in France to a port in England, laden with wine; taken during August 1697 by the Falmouth packet Spanish Expedition (Francis Clyes commanding) and brought into the Groyne (A Coruña).

  • [CP 2]: claim to the ship and cargo on behalf of a merchant in Bideford.

[Decision: ship and cargo condemned, 1 December 1697].
