Description

Captured ship: Fortune of Gothenburg (master Joachim Gwick).

History: a Swedish merchant ship (80 tons) bound from Gothenburg to Lisbon, laden with pitch; taken on 11/21 April 1691 by HMS Portsmouth (William Whetstone commanding) and brought into the Downs.

  • [CP 1]: two examinations;
  • [CP 2]: claim to the ship and cargo on behalf of merchants in Gothenburg;
  • [CP 3]: abstracts and translations of 2 ship's papers [these papers were restored].

[Decision: ship and cargo restored 7 May 1691].
