Description

Captured ship: Falcon of Bergen (master Andrew Mounson).

History: a Danish Norwegian merchant ship (dogger, 70 tons) bound from Bergen to Porto or Lisbon, laden with clapboards, deal boards, tallow and tar; taken during May 1690 by the privateer Elizabeth and Catherine (William Young commanding) and brought into Dover.

  • [CP 1-CP 4]: interrogatories, three examinations, commission, wrapper;
  • [CP 5]: claim to the ship and cargo on behalf of merchants in Bergen;
  • [CP 6-CP 8]: three allegations;
  • [CP 9-CP 10]: two sets of interrogatories;
  • [CP 11/1-CP 11/3]: two letters, attestation;
  • [CP 12-CP 12/1]: affidavit, list of carges.
  • [CP 13]: abstracts and translations of the 11 ship's papers [all these papers were restored];
  • [CP 14]: covering note for the ship's papers.

[Decision: ship and cargo restored, 25 September 1690].
