Description

Captured ship: Falcon or Golden Falcon of Kongsberg (master Andrew Burgeson).

History: a Swedish merchant ship (70 tons) bound from Gothenburg to Hull, laden with iron; taken by the French privateer L'Audacieuse (Theophille Herpin commanding), retaken during 1694 by HMS Jersey (Richard Paul commanding) and brought into the River Thames.

Court Papers numbered CP 1-CP 5:

  • [CP 1]: claim to the ship and cargo on behalf of merchants in Konigsberg and Hull;
  • [CP 2-CP 2/6]: attestation with six exhibits, bills of lading and invoices;
  • [CP 3-CP 3/1]: attestation with one exhibit, a note relating to cargo;
  • [CP 4-CP 5]: commission of appraisement, inventory.

Ships Paper numbered SP 1, copy letter of marque for the French privateer L'Audacieuse.

[Decision: ship and cargo restored, paying salvage 9 August 1694].
