Description

Folios 448-450. Petition of the Committee for the Protection of Trade and Manufacturies at Manchester [Lancashire] seeking redress against English privateers predating on neutral vessels laden with cotton from Grenada, the Grenadines, St Vincent and Tobago [West Indies]. Signed by: Josiah Birch; John Orme; Benjamin L Winter; Thomas Gorton; John Harmer; Holld [?Holland] Ackers; Daniel Whittaker; Nathan Hyde; Thomas Potter; James Entwistle; F Bayley; John Philips; and William Rigby. Folio 450. Copy of minutes, with the opinion of their Lordships [?the Privy Council] concerning the produce of captured islands transported in neutral ships, suggesting that governors should write to the Court of the Admiralty.
