Folios 245-252. A letter from Thos [Thomas] Lamb, dated at Rye [Sussex], dated on 5 September [1781], concerning urgent intelligence on smugglers. Enclosing: Folio 246-247. A letter from 'Felix' to Mr Peadle, officer in the customs at Rye, dated at Folkestone [Kent]. Advises that he has 'procured such intelligence of some particular spies much more formidable and dangerous than the late [François Henri de la Motte; Francis Henry de La] Motte' Folio 249-250. An account, rendered by G Haines and O'Hearn, of expenses incurred at Bologne [Boulogne, France], Dunkirk; Ghent and Newport [Nieuwpoort, Flanders]; at Folkestone, and Margate; and for a chaise to London. The account was presented to Mr Palmer in the presence of Mr Peadle. Endorsed date: 8 September 1781. Folio 251-252. Draft of an order for Mr Peadle to search diligences sent to: John Turner, Thos [Thomas] Turner; John Danniel [Daniel, Daniels], and John Oliver, of Rye; and Elias Fletcher and ?Geog [?George] Winham [Wenham]. Given to Mr Peadle on 8 September 1781.
