A letter from Coote Molesworth, dated at Chichester [Sussex] informing on Frenchman Robert Pelve, 'long looked upon as a spy', and now lodging at Mrs Milward's, manuta-maker in Germain Street, London. Mentions: his imprisonment, with Thurot, during the last war [i.e. the Seven Year's War] ; intimacy with the Earl of Egremont; Petworth [Sussex]; marriage to the daughter of Bishop Butts; trips to France ostensibly for his wine trade; residence in Siddlesham [Sidlesham, Sussex]; association with Thomas Scammel, master of a vessel, who was detained in France, while Pelve went to Paris [France]; Woodroffe Drinkwater and a corn mill; Molesworth's friendship with 'Mr W D' [?William Dickinson]; Arundel, where 'papists [Roman Catholics] abound'; Molesworth being 83-years-old, and a survivor of the fire in Brook Street in 1763.
