Folios 160-161. The memorial of Bewickes and Mourgue, of London, seeking recovery of their own and other merchants' property, and the liberty of John Jones. On the prospect of war with France, the memorialists carried on their business in the name of Peter Timmerman and Company, and employed Jones, a British subject and resident of France, as their book-keeper. He was detained in December 1780 in the Castle of Saint Catalina in Cadiz [Spain], after examination by the governor General O'Reilly.
