A further letter from Captain Alexander Jardine, Royal Artillery, to Viscount Hillsborough, dated at Norton Street [Middlesex; Bolsover Street, Middlesex], petitioning for assistance after being a great loser by the 'Spanish business'. [Captain Jardine was a spy in Spain.] Folio 87. Jardine to Sir Stanier Porten, dated at Norton Street. Seeks a post as captain of lieutenants of cadets at Woolwich, for which he has already applied to Lord Townsend. Mentions: Lord George Germaine; Sir John Irwine; Lord Weymouth and Lord Hillsborough.
