A letter from Edwd [Edward] Stanley to William Knox, dated at Customs House [London] concerning the brig 'Swallow' [Captain W Causland] entered out for New York, but detained in Deal [Kent] by order of the Board. Encloses: Folio 80. J Friend [to Lord George Germaine] from the Chief Officer of the Revenue, dated at Customs House, Deal. Encloses documents [not filed here], including the cocquets [customs forms]. Folio 81-82. Copy of a memorial by Benjamin Joy, dated at London. Seeks returns of his own papers, seized with others from the 'Swallow'. Also mentions insurance, and refitting at Dover [Kent] Pier. Folio 84-85. Stanley to Knox, at Customs House. Orders have been given to sail to Dover harbour. Mentions: Sir Grey Cooper; and a trunk board, with no key, and suspected papers within.
