Description

Captured ship: Concord of London (master Peter Huntington).

History: an English ship, taken on 13/23 May 1694 by an unnamed French privateer off Harwich, where most of the English crew abandoned the Concord in two longboats; taken around five hours later by the packet boat Providence (John Wood commanding), and brought into Harwich.

  • [CP 1-CP 2]: two sets of claims to the ship and cargo on behalf of merchants in London;
  • [CP 3-CP 4]: allegation and interrogatories, relating to an attempt to ransom an English sailor carried to France as a prisoner of war;
  • [CP 5-CP 7]: further allegation, two sets of interrogatories;
  • [CP 8-CP 9]: two further sets of interrogatories, one of which is for the ship Zebulon, which may have been captured at the same time as the Concord.
