Description

Captured ship: Concord of Hamburg (master Untie Tyman).

History: a Hamburg ship (170 lasts), bound from St Martins to Danzig, laden with salt, wine and brandy; taken on 29 July / 8 August 1689 between 'the West penmarkes and the Seannes' [the west coast of Brittany] by the Dutch warship [Phoenix] (Cornelis van Brakel commanding), and brought into Plymouth.

  • [CP 1-CP 3]: interrogatories, two examinations;
  • [CP 3]: claim to the ship and cargo on behalf of merchants in Hamburg;
  • [CP 4]: attestation in German, issued at Hamburg;
  • [CP 5]: abstracts and translations of the 8 ship's papers [these papers were restored].

[Decision: ship and cargo restored, 20 August 1689]
