Description

Captured ship: Concord of Rotterdam (master Peter Francis).

History: a Dutch ship (40 tons), bound from Rotterdam to Cork, Ireland, laden with vinegar, lamp black, tobacco and hops; taken on 20/30 August 1696 off the Scilly Isles by the French privateer Comte de Tessel, retaken on 22 August / 1 September 1696 between the Sept-Îles and Brehac by the [Guernsey] privateer St Martin's Galley (Peter Thomas commanding), and brought into Guernsey.

  • [CP 1]: three examinations;
  • [CP 2]: claim to the ship and cargo on behalf of merchants in Rotterdam;
  • [CP 3-CP 5]: inventory, envelope, commission of appraisement;
  • [CP 6]: docket, still attached to the ship's papers.

Ship’s Paper numbered SP 1, pass issued by the captain of the Comte de Tessel to the prize crew.
