Captured ship: Colombe or Dove of Granville (master Charles Jourdan).
History: a French fishing vessel (100 tons, 8 guns, 31 men), bound from the Banks of Newfoundland to St Malo or Le Havre, laden with fish and salt; taken on 8/18 September 1697 in the high seas by the privateer Macclesfield Galley (John Hurle commanding), and brought into Carbonear Harbour, Newfoundland.
