Description

Captured ship: Le Coasquen otherwise Le Coëtquen of St Malo (master Pierre de la Ville Hachett).

History: a French privateer with a royal commission (120 tons, 18 guns, [140 men]), bound from St Malo on a cruise; taken on 28 January / 7 February 1694/5 about 7 leagues off Ushant by HMS Portland (William Smith commanding), and brought first into San Antonio in the Bay of Biscay, and then into Plymouth.
