Description

Captured ship: Cock of Zierikzee (master Cornelius Boom).

History: a Dutch ship (24 lasts), bound from Zierikzee to Dublin, laden with tar, pantiles, hops and madder; taken on 16/26 January 1693 by the privateer Success (Thomas Powell commanding), and brought into Dover.

  • [CP 1-CP 2]: interrogatories, three examinations;
  • [CP 3]: claim to the ship and cargo on behalf of merchants in Zeeland;
  • [CP 4a-CP 4e]: five exhibited letters in French and Dutch;
  • [CP 5a-CP 5b]: exhibited letter in Dutch, attestation given at Dublin.

[Decision: ship and cargo restored, 22 February 1694]
